Earth renders using the Blue Marble next generation dataset

Here are some test renders of the earth using the Blue Marble next generation dataset. See the evaluation page for some general notes on the data.

The full size images can be used for closeup views. The following view of Europe is rendered in combination with 6 arcsecond SRTM based elevation data.

Views of the whole earth can be nicely rendered using the lower resolution (2km) versions. The examples below use this combined with the ETOPO2 data set for the elevation.
