After introducing the European Arctic Islands in May i am now extending the Musaicum satellite image coverage to the other larger islands and island groups of the Atlantic Ocean.
The Musaicum images are a series of regional satellite image mosaics based on Sentinel-2 data started in 2023 that are produced to a high quality standard. They offer unsurpassed quality in visual color depiction of Earth at this resolution range (10m) with a high degree of color consistency and an exceptionally low incidence of clouds.
The newly available data covers Macaronesia (that is the Azores, Canary Islands, Madeira and Cabo Verde) and the remote Southern Atlantic Ocean Islands (Saint Helena, Ascension, Tristan da Cunha, the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands).
You might have noticed that Bouvet Island is missing. That is due to Sentinel-2 recordings only recently having started to routinely include that remote island. Therefore there is not yet enough good quality data available to produce an image of better quality than my older Landsat based mosaic. Therefore i decided to not include that yet.
As usual you can find more information on the product pages of the new mosaics – for Macaronesia and the Southern Atlantic Ocean Islands.
