I am happy to announce the availability of the next extension of my Musaicum satellite image mosaic series.
The Musaicum images are a series of regional satellite image mosaics based on Sentinel-2 data started in 2023 that are produced to a high quality standard. They offer unsurpassed quality in visual color depiction of Earth at this resolution range (10m) with a high degree of color consistency and an exceptionally low incidence of clouds.
The newly released image covers the United States of America – including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
This substantially extends the range of geographic settings the Musaicum process has been adjusted to and evaluated for. This includes, in particular, one of the most difficult areas outside the tropics regarding cloud free image assembly – the Aleutian islands. Accordingly, some small parts of the image use significantly older data (total range from 2016 to 2024). For most of the coverage area, exclusively image data from 2019-2024 is used though. Color calibration and uniformity have been further improved compared to the second generation mosaics (West Asia and North Atlantic Islands)
As already discussed with the North Atlantic Islands image, a shading compensated variant and a fractional vegetation data set are now routinely available for the same coverage area.

I produced plenty of sample images to allow you to explore the new image on the product page. If you are interested in using the Musaicum United States in your own projects please get in touch.
