The quality of Openstreetmap coastline data

Having worked quite a bit with the Openstreetmap coastline data i have concluded some time ago that the quality of this data is quite good but i have not given any proof for this assertion.  The recent import of new data for Antarctica i did with Jochen has certainly improved one of the worst parts of the coastline but so far there has been no verifiable information on how good or how bad the OSM coastline data is in various parts of the world.  I tried to make this assessment and came up with the map below.  You can click on the map or follow this link to read the full analysis.
