The Dzungarian Gate 1

The Dzungarian Gate is a pass between China and Kazakhstan dividing the Alatau mountain range. It has been an important trade route in ancient times between central and east Asia. Several endorheic lakes can be seen on both sides of the pass. In the near foreground there are the snow covered peaks of the Tian Shan.

Magnificient photo of the pass-I set the "Russia to China" one as my wallpaper (hope thats OK). Would love to see more images of areas from the Mongolian Altai down into the Lake Issyk Kul/Lake Balkhash region and along the Tien Shan down into Uzbekistan. This was a classic invasion route for the Nomads and I'm researching the area.\\r\\n\\r\\nAgain, great shot.\\r\\n\\r\\nBest Regards,\\r\\n\\r\\n\\r\\nChip Thornton
